Where the coffee comes from
We list roasters in every corner of the state. A few from each region:
- Greater Boston: Gracenote, with its Lincoln Street cafe; Broadsheet, founded in Cambridge in 2017; and Recreo in West Roxbury, roasting beans from the owner's family farm.
- MetroWest: George Howell Coffee, roasting in Acton since 2004, and Sudbury Coffee Works, open since 1995.
- Worcester and Central Massachusetts: Armeno in a Northborough mill dating from 1727, and Red Barn, which began in a Hopkinton backyard barn in 1997 and now roasts in Upton.
- Northampton and the Pioneer Valley: Indigo on its 1951 Gothot roaster, and Dean's Beans in Orange, owned by its 14 workers since 2023.
- The Berkshires: Barrington in the woods of Lee, and Tunnel City, named for the Hoosac Tunnel town of North Adams.
- Salem and the North Shore: Jaho, roasting on Canal Street in Salem, and Atomic in Peabody, which makes the Witch City coffee every fall.
- Plymouth and the South Shore: Speedwell in Plymouth and Equal Exchange, a worker-owned co-op in West Bridgewater that has imported fairly traded coffee since 1986.
- Cape Cod and the islands: Snowy Owl in Sandwich, Three Fins in West Dennis and Nantucket Coffee Roasters, on the island since 1993.

Moved-away gift questions
Can I send it to a different state?
Yes, to any address in the US. The coffee is roasted in Massachusetts and mailed from the roastery.
Can they pick the roast?
You pick the roast and the grind when you order. If you do not know how they take their coffee, choose mix it up and each roaster sends what they are proudest of.
Does it renew?
No. The gift ends after its last box, and nobody is billed again.
Can I choose when the first box goes out?
Yes. You pick the start date when you order.
