Sudbury Coffee Works is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Massachusetts: an independent roaster based in Sudbury, founded in 1995. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
A retail coffee shop and cafe founded in 1995, about 25 miles northwest of Boston, that also does carry-out and catering. Every bean is roasted on site in a red Sasa-Samiac roaster from France whose stainless vent rises two stories inside the store. More than 15 wooden barrels of beans from different countries sit on display for customers to buy by the pound.
The French-built roaster runs on its own computer, which sets the heat and timing for each batch. Apart from its French roasts, every coffee is taken to a Full City roast, which it defines as dark brown with no oil showing on the bean. Beans are sold by the pound in any mix, with a two-pound minimum on shipped orders, and there is a long list of flavored beans such as Creme Brulee and Gingerbread Cookie.

Roast levels run Full City and French Roast. House blends include 1776 Blend and Sunshine Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Colombian Narino, Costa Rica La Minita, Costa Rica Tarrazu, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia Sidamo, Kenya AA, Guatemala Antigua, Nicaragua El Recreo Estate, Brazil Cerrado and Sumatra Mandheling. Decaf: Costa Rican, 1776, Colombian, Guatemalan, Brazil and Colombian French decafs. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.
