Bay State Coffee Club sends a 12 oz bag from a different independent Massachusetts roaster in every box. Each bag costs $16.99 whatever the roast. First bag free, you pay $7.99 shipping. Boxes come every 2 or 4 weeks, and you skip, pause or cancel online.
You choose light, medium, dark or mix it up, then single origin, blend, espresso or decaf, whole bean or ground. A box holds one or two bags, and the second bag can carry its own roast and style. The roaster roasts to order and ships in its own bag, with our packing slip that names the roaster, its shop, its story and what to taste for. Acoustic Java Roastery, Worcester
Acoustic Java sells a roaster's choice subscription. It roasts light, medium and dark in the Whittall Mills complex on Brussels Street, runs an SCA Premier Coffee Campus there, and pours a free public tasting every Friday at 10 a.m. Its decaf is an organic Peru, Swiss Water Process. Aero Coffee Roasters, Northborough
Aero's subscription is called the Roasters Club. Aero opened in June 2020 with a roastery, bakery and cafe under one roof on Main Street, and its head roaster lets each coffee decide its roast, light, medium or dark. Broadsheet Coffee Roasters, Cambridge
Broadsheet sells subscriptions of one to four bags. It roasts from very light Nordic style to medium-dark, labels bags by color coded flavor families, and cups every batch on every roast day. Driftaway roasts its own coffee in Brooklyn, New York, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Its subscriptions start with an Explorer Box of five 4 oz coffees and a free virtual tasting, then send coffees that match the profiles you liked. The All Roasts subscription lists a $21 renewal price for a 12 oz bag, pay per shipment, and runs from every week to every 4 weeks. Driftaway says you can pause or cancel whenever you like.
