How it works for a roaster
Bay State Coffee Club is a Massachusetts coffee subscription built to buy wholesale from independent Massachusetts roasters. Here is the whole arrangement:
- You name your wholesale price. We never ask you to cut it to win a sale.
- We send you the orders and the bag count before your box, so you know the volume before you roast.
- You roast, pack and ship, in your own 12 oz bag and your own packaging.
- Your name goes on the packing slip we send with each order, along with your shop, your story and tasting notes for the coffee.
The coffee reaches the customer as your coffee, under your brand.
Why we built it this way
The Roast Local directory lists 102 independent roasters in Massachusetts. A coffee drinker in Pittsfield has no easy way to try a roaster in Plymouth, and a roastery in Greenfield is a long way from Worcester. The club carries your coffee to people across the state and anywhere else in the US, one box at a time, and pays you the price you set.
Keeping the bag yours is deliberate. A customer who likes your coffee should be able to find you again, and buy the next bag from you directly. That is how a subscription like this helps small roasters stay open. Why local roasters matter to us.
How to start
Email roasters@baystatecoffeeclub.com. Tell us who you are, where you roast and what you would like to send. We reply by email.
If we already list you as a local favorite on this site, the same address works to correct your page or ask us to take it down. A listing does not mean you are part of the club. The rules for listings are on how we choose roasters.
Questions from roasters
Who sets the price?
You do. You name your wholesale price, and we never ask you to cut it to win a sale.
Do I have to use your bags or packaging?
No. You ship in your own bag and packaging. Our packing slip goes in with each order and carries your name, your shop, your story and tasting notes.
How do I know how much to roast?
We send you the orders and the bag count before your box, so you roast to a known number.
My roastery is listed on your site. Does that mean I am in the club?
No. A listing means we like your coffee. It is not a partnership, and you can ask for a correction or removal at roasters@baystatecoffeeclub.com.
