Salem

Jaho Coffee Roaster roasts all of its coffee at its roastery and bakery on Canal Street, which doubles as a cafe. A second Salem cafe is on Derby Street at Pickering Wharf.

Peabody

Atomic Coffee Roasters roasts every batch to order in Peabody and buys with a team that includes three licensed Q Graders. It runs tours, tastings and latte art classes, but lists no retail cafe.

Capito Coffee has its cafe on the first floor of Building B at Mills58 on Pulaski Street. The name is Italian for understood, and the company says all the coffee it buys is fair trade certified.

Beverly and Marblehead

Kid Dream is a married couple's cafe and roastery on West Dane Street in Beverly, open since 2021. The Nowadays Blend, a washed Colombian with a natural Ethiopian, is the house espresso.

Bond Coffee is two Marblehead neighbors, Adam and Chris, who deliver bags to homes in town themselves. The more Marblehead households sign up, the lower the price per bag goes for all of them.

Salem's coffee story

Anil Mezini opened Jaho in 2005 as one cafe in Salem. He took the slogan Live Slow from what he saw while studying in Japan. Jaho now has nine locations around greater Boston and in Tokyo, and it is still family owned.

Atomic's story starts in the mid-1990s, when two brothers opened a run of cafes on the North Shore. Brothers Spencer and Logan, the second generation, run it now.

For seven falls, Atomic has made its Witch City coffee with Salem artist Georgia Wrenn, who started drawing spooky Salem scenes at a lemonade stand and now has a shop on Front Street. Her art goes on the bags, the cans and the glasses.

Bond names its roasts for Marblehead. Regiment Roast honors Glover's Regiment, the town's fishermen and sailors who carried Washington's army across the Delaware in 1776.

How we chose these roasters

Every roaster here roasts in Massachusetts and was operating when we read its own site, on the date its card shows (the list itself was last checked 2026-09-27). Facts come from each roaster's own pages, written in our words; we take nothing from reviews and show no ratings. No roaster pays to be listed, and a listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club. Run a roaster here and something is off? Email coffee@baystatecoffeeclub.com and we correct or remove the page.
