Roasters in and near Haverhill
These are local favorites we list. A listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club.
Haverhill
Octave Coffee Co. names its coffees after music. Bossa Nova is an organic Nicaragua light roast, Post-Rock is a dark Sumatra and the decaf is called Yacht Rock. It roasts to order in small batches for homes, businesses and events across the Merrimack Valley, and its Haverhill collection includes roasts made with two local companies, Quinlan Homes and The Monahan Group.
Amesbury
KAHA Coffee Roasters roasts on Cedar Street, and online orders can be collected there once the shop emails that they are ready. Its blends include a New England Blend and a Half Caff, and it buys from Siempre Verde Farm in Ecuador directly and roasts that farm's beans. In March 2026 the two held a free guided tasting open to anyone.
Salisbury
Valverde Coffee Roasters roasts every day at Crossroads Plaza, a pound or two at a time. There is no seating or food, but staff are in weekdays from 10 to 2, later visits go by appointment, and online orders can be picked up there for free. It goes back to the same small farms in Bolivia, Burundi, Colombia and Costa Rica each year and imports the coffee itself.
Haverhill's coffee story
Nelson Valverde grew up in La Paz and spent decades in international finance before his family founded the parent company, Invalsa, in 2004. He is also the roastmaster and has judged Cup of Excellence competitions in eight countries. Many of the Bolivian growers he buys from are Aymara farmers in Caranavi, the province that grows about 90 percent of Bolivia's coffee, and a sister business works in La Paz.
KAHA started with a popcorn machine. Tyler Workman grew up drinking coffee in New Zealand, moved here to be with his American wife and could not find the flat whites he missed. After about three years of roasting at home, friends and family helped him buy a small batch roaster. The first year was pop-ups at farmers markets, hair salons and birthday parties, served from a cart he built out of steel and reused wood. The name comes from the Maori phrase Kia Kaha, stay strong, which his mother suggested.
Octave's story page quotes Philippians 4:8, and the company says it wants to be known for its character as much as its coffee.

How we chose these roasters
Every roaster here roasts in Massachusetts and was operating when we read its own site, on the date its card shows (the list itself was last checked 2026-09-27). Facts come from each roaster's own pages, written in our words; we take nothing from reviews and show no ratings. No roaster pays to be listed, and a listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club. Run a roaster here and something is off? Email coffee@baystatecoffeeclub.com and we correct or remove the page.
