Their story
Founder Tyler Workman grew up drinking coffee in New Zealand. After moving to Massachusetts to be with his American wife, he could not find the flat whites he missed and began roasting at home in a popcorn machine. About three years of home experiments later, friends and family helped him buy a small batch roaster. He started with pop-up events before shifting to roasting, wholesale and online sales. The name is drawn from the Maori phrase Kia Kaha, meaning stay strong, which his mother suggested as a nod to his New Zealand roots.
During the first year, he and his wife worked pop-ups at farmers markets, hair salons and birthday parties from a cart he made out of steel and reused wood, pouring filter coffee and cold brew. Green coffee reaches the roastery in GrainPro hermetic liners, which the company says guard against mold and staleness. Its single origin lineup changes through the year as harvests come and go. Along with its web store, KAHA sells wholesale to farm stands, restaurants, cafes and specialty shops, and it does toll roasting for private label and white label customers.

House blends include New England Blend, KAHA Fall Blend, Happy Medium Blend, El Camino Blend, Kia Kaha Blend, KAHA Iced Coffee Blend and KAHA Half Caff Blend. Why buying from KAHA Coffee Roasters matters here
In March 2026 the roaster teamed up with Siempre Verde Farm on a free guided tasting that was open to the whole community. The roastery on Cedar Street in Amesbury held a ribbon cutting with the Amesbury and Greater Newburyport chambers of commerce in April 2025, followed by a three day open house. KAHA counts Siempre Verde Farm in Ecuador as a direct trade partner and roasts its beans; the farm joined KAHA's stop on the 2025 Amesbury Open Studios tour.
