An(other) Coffee Company is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Massachusetts: an independent roaster based in Boston, founded in 2021. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Evan took a Starbucks job in 2011 after earning a studio arts degree, then worked as a barista, trainer, production roasting assistant and consultant. In 2021 he turned his roasting hobby into a Boston business, first roasting in the couple's apartment kitchen before moving to larger roasting facilities. Nicole is the co-founder and creative director, handling brand, design and communications.
Small batches of about a pound are roasted on a Huky 500T at the owners' Arlington home, while runs of up to 14 pounds happen on a rented Loring S7 at a roasting facility in Rockland. Evan says he chose a Loring because it burns less gas than a conventional roaster, and that renting machine time keeps overhead low so more money goes to buying coffee. According to the company's timeline, Evan earned Q Arabica Grader certification in 2018, and the couple spent time on coffee farms in Guatemala, Costa Rica and Peru in 2017 and 2018.
Coffees come only from exporters the company has built trust with, so not every growing country is on the menu. One to three offerings at a time are organically grown but not certified.

House blends include Sblendid! (rotating blend). Single origins on the list when we checked: Yacuri Sidra (Ecuador), Yacuri Mejorado (Ecuador), Fugi Ikizere (Rwanda) and Hafi (Burundi). Decaf: E.A. There is no cafe of its own; bags sell online and through a few Boston area shops and cafes.

Retail bags are stocked at Boston General Store and Simple Merchant Coffee, among other local spots. Evan hosted the brand's first pop-up tasting in Boston in 2023. Wholesale accounts can get barista training, brew consulting and help with menus and events along with the coffee.
