Their story
YUP is a family roastery set above the Mill River in Florence, a few minutes from downtown Northampton. Every coffee it sells is organic and either fair trade certified or from a farmer cooperative, hand roasted in small batches each week. The name comes from the New England way of saying yes.
It roasts on a custom, fully manual double-walled drum roaster built in Portugal, about 30 pounds per batch, adjusting airflow, heat and drum speed for each coffee. Coffees run from light to dark and come in 1 or 5 pound bags; recent lots include Bali Blue Moon, Java Taman Dadar and a Honduras coffee called Manos de Mujer. Every bag is marked with the date it was roasted.

Roast levels run Light, Medium, Full medium and Dark.
