Their story
Fogbuster air roasts its coffee, a method it says only about 1 percent of the world uses, and cites more than 30 years of experience with it. Its coffees carry organic, fair trade and kosher certification, and the company says air roasting keeps them low in acid. Brothers Sean and Darren Pierce looked into new roasting methods in the early 1990s and visited Michael Sivetz, the engineer behind fluid bed air roasting, in California. He shared his blueprints and gave them rights to one of his patented designs.
The business began in 1994 as Pierce Brothers Coffee Roasters, whose first air roasted coffee went to the University of Massachusetts community; it later took the name of its best known super dark roast. The company says Pierce Brothers Coffee was one of the country's earliest coffee shops to add a drive-through window. Its customers include colleges, supermarkets, hospitals, ski resorts and inns, and it makes nitro cold brew in cans and kegs.

House blends include The Original Fogbuster, Thunderstruck (dark), Angler's Blend, Back Road Blend and Iced Coffee Blend (super dark).
