Tree House Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Massachusetts: an independent roaster based in Charlton. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Tree House Brewing Company started in 2011 in a small red barn in Brimfield and remains owned by its brewers. After years of making coffee beers with outside roasters, the brewery began roasting its own beans so it could control every step of the product. Roasting happens at its main Charlton site, which it shares with the brewery and distillery.
Each prospective green coffee is sample roasted to several profiles on a small roaster, and only the best bean and profile move on to full production roasting. Monochrome uses the same beans as the House Blend, taken to a darker roast for notes of fudge and walnut. Co-founder Nathan Lanier is also the head brewer and the company's conceptual lead.

Why buying from Tree House Coffee matters here
In 2022 the company bought Tewksbury Country Club north of Boston for Tree House Greater Boston, saying the property would show off its teams in beer, coffee, spirits, farming and food. Tree House says it has given more than $500,000 to local and international causes, and it lent its Deerfield site for a regional COVID vaccine clinic.
