Sturbridge Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Massachusetts: an independent roaster based in Southbridge, founded in 2004. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The business opened in Sturbridge in 2004 and later moved five miles to Southbridge. Elvis Dyer bought it in August 2014. A dedicated roasting facility on Eastford Road opened in July 2019, and the Southbridge cafe closed in October 2023. A second shop opened in Dudley in July 2016. The third, in Charlton, was bought in July 2022 and opened that September.
Beans are roasted on US-built Diedrich IR-7 and IR-12 machines at the company's FDA-approved plant on Eastford Road. Schools and clubs can raise money by selling 12 oz bags of a blend the roaster personalizes for their group.
What they roast
Roast levels run light, medium and dark. House blends include Breakfast Blend, SCR House Blend, Black Gold, Liberty Brew and Cold Brew Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Brazil Cerrado. Espresso: Espresso Blend. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.
Where to drink it
The Southbridge roastery is closed to visitors, but the Dudley and Charlton shops sell coffee daily.
