Monsoon Roastery is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Massachusetts: an independent roaster based in Springfield. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Small batches are roasted on a fluid bed roaster and packed in recyclable cans. Beside the two shops, the company runs a mobile espresso bar for events and offers coffee classes. The founders say they started the business while expecting a new baby, with two college degrees still half finished.
In 2018 the roaster met Urban Artisan Farm at a farmers market, which led it to set up at Gasoline Alley, and Nosh restaurant soon picked it as its coffee supplier. When the pandemic hit, it used its delivery routes to launch Monsoon Provisions, an online market for goods from local makers. The company says it runs on 100 percent wind energy, composts with its partners and buys directly from farms and co-ops.

House blends include All Purpose Blend, Liquid Sunshine and SoulRave. Single origins on the list when we checked: Organic Panic, DR Congo. Decaf: SweetSpot Decaf, a sugar cane processed Colombia from Tello-Palermo in north Huila. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

Urban Food Brood is a shared 5,000 square foot food hall at Gasoline Alley in Springfield, backed by a grant and a bank loan, where Monsoon works beside Nosh, Urban Artisan Farm and other small makers.
