Elbow Room Cafe and Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Massachusetts: an independent roaster based in Williamsburg, founded in 2004. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Customers order roasted coffee online, sold in full one-pound bags, for pickup in the shop or from an after-hours porch cabinet. Besides coffee and espresso, the shop serves burrito specials on Fridays and Saturdays. The first Elbow Room opened in 2004 inside a former ATM kiosk in Northampton that measured just 80 square feet, which is where the name comes from.
About six years later the owner sold that kiosk and set up a micro-roastery on the loading dock of an old Williamsburg mill, with a small espresso counter facing the roaster. A larger build-out in 2017 added indoor seating and more room for the breakfast burrito menu.
Where to drink it
The shop opens Thursday through Saturday, and roasted coffee can be picked up from a porch cabinet after hours.
